English 9B is a required course for graduation from Blackfoot High School. In this class students will be studying the life of Malala who is the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. We will study her life and the book "I Am Malala". Students will read, write, and participate in activities to examine and discuss the text. Vocabulary, grammar, and literary terms are also a focus in this class. This unit is taught during the 2nd trimester, as it will provide students with the necessary skills to actively engage with a text and make meaning throughout the year. Novel reading, and analysis and informational writing are the focus of this unit.

Cheating and Plagiarism
According to the Owl Purdue website https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/, plagiarism is defined as follows: “There are some actions that can almost unquestionably be labeled plagiarism. Some of these include buying, stealing, or borrowing a paper (including, of course, copying an entire paper or article from the Web); hiring someone to write your paper for you; and copying large sections of text from a source without quotation marks or proper citation.” In this regard, any work that is turned in and I find it to be unoriginal, copied, or I question its validity, no credit will be given the student turn in original work.
